Richard I. Shope, Attorney at Law

Richard focuses his practice on advising clients on real estate and business matters. Richard has four decades of experience in assisting his clients on real estate issues such as commercial and residential real estate transactions, planned unit development formation, landlord tenant disputes, condemnations, title disputes, and boundary line disputes. Richard also counsels business owners through the processes of business formation, business sales and purchases, and drafting, interpreting, and litigating contracts.

Richard is a member of the North Carolina Bar Association Real Property Section, the North Carolina State Bar, and the Greensboro Bar Association. He is admitted to practice in all State Courts in North Carolina, as well as the U.S. District Courts for the Eastern, Middle, and Western Districts of North Carolina, and the 4th Circuit Court of Appeals.

Richard received a Juris Doctor from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Prior to law school, Richard received a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Richard enjoys hiking, playing golf, and traveling with his wife.

We are located off West Friendly Avenue in downtown Greensboro in the historic Sherwood House, circa 1850.

The building is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, and was associated with the publishers of the Greensborough Patriot.
